Images of Andalucia

Geographically cut off from the rest of Europe by the snow-capped Pyrenees, Spain has developed a unique culture.

This is most noticeable in the southerly region of Andalucia, where the 750-year occupation of the Moors has left the flavour of North Africa which is without parallel elsewhere in Europe

Andalucia’s name is derived from Al-Andalus the name the Moors gave the whole peninsula. It means “the country of the Vandals”. The Vandals a Germanic tribe, invaded Spain in the 5th century.
